We are pleased to announce you the 1st STSM call of the COST HUPLANTcontrol CA16110. The deadline for application is september 15th. You will find enclosed the Short Term Scientific Mission User Guide that will help you to apply on the eCOST website. All the rules are detailed in the COST vademecum (also attached) on pages 35-36.

Seven STSM are available. The selection criteria, approved by the MC members, are in the following order:

1-      Accordance/relevance to the COST action scientific scope and how the application can support the Action
2-      Excellence of the application
3-      Young scientists will be favored over older ones
4-      The origin of the applicant (inclusiveness target countries) and gender balance will be taken into account.
5-      As far as possible a balance between the different Working Groups will be applied

In the case we receive too many applications, the selection will be made by the core group members.

Remember that the STSM has to be finished (including the scientific report) before the end of the 1st year of the COST i.e. March 30th 2018.

Advanced microscopy techniques for plant-microbe interaction analysis.

AIT Austrian Institute of Technology:

We offer a one-week training course and workshop during which you will be exposed to cutting edge technologies and acquire know-how on various microscopy methods applied in plant-microbe interaction research.

The workshop is open to an international audience (young scientists, Post-Docs, PhD students) eager to acquire expertise in visualization of plant-microbe associations. We look forward to spending an inspiring week together and exploring microbes on and within plant tissues with you.

The training is limited to 16 participants. Early bird deadline is July 1st 2017.

Interested applicants should send a CV and a motivation letter explaining why they want to attend the training and workshop and which skills they would like to acquire before May 1st 2017 to microscopy@ait.ac.at. Selected candidates will be contacted before the early bird deadline.

Strong concerns about potential future budget cuts in the context of EFSI http://endophytes.eu/strong-concerns-about-potential-future-budget-cuts-in-the-context-of-efsi/ Tue, 02 Jun 2015 07:28:08 +0000 http://endophytes.eu/?p=1408

Dear COST Action Chairs,

In context of the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), drawing budget
from Horizon 2020, the COST Association is facing a potential 7% budget cut for
operating the COST Framework. Not only would this impact the future number of
COST Actions to be funded but most likely lower the funds of all ongoing COST
Actions.

Given COST great leverage and high impact on the European Research and
Innovation capacities, the Committee of Senior Officials has therefore made a
statement pleading for a conservation of COST budget. This statement, published
yesterday, has been shared with the European Commission (COST_Association_statement).

Moreover, we have decided to launch an online petition on the COST website where
Actions’ participants and COST stakeholders and friends can show their support.

If you believe that the COST should have stable and sufficient budgets to allow
European researchers, engineers and scholars to connect and collaborate, please
sign our online petition “*Engaging for COST”*.

You will find the related News release here
http://www.cost.eu/media/newsroom/governing-board-alarmed-diminishing-budget-EFSI.

Please help us to keep the COST budget by distributing this mail to all your
Actions’ participants (management committee, working groups, etc.)

Thank you for the attention given to this message. We will keep you posted on
the developments.

Best regards,

Ángeles Rodríguez-Peña

President of the COST Association

Using three-way interactions between plants, microbes and arthropods to enhance crop protection and production.

COST Action FA1405
It will start working this year.

1. You can read a summary on the first page of the link and find more details under „Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)“.
2. You may check under „parties“ if your country already signed the MoU – if not, you may get in contact with your COST National Coordinator (you’ll find them here) to support the process by showing your interest.
3. In case your country is participating, you may contact the proposer Arjen Biere to get one of the seats in Management Committee, if still possible. If not, contact Arjen as well to be an Action Member and get on the mailing list once the Action has started.
